What is the Ramah Jerusalem Day Camp?
The Ramah Jerusalem Day Camp offers a unique experience for English-speaking children from abroad and Israel entering kindergarten through eighth grade. The camp is located at the Israel Goldstein Youth Village in the San Simon neighborhood of Jerusalem, a beautiful, spacious site only 15 minutes from downtown, completely surrounded by a security fence.

Take a virtual tour of the Goldstein Youth Village.

Once each week campers go on outings to explore the magic of Jerusalem and its surroundings. The other days campers are involved in fun-filled and educational activities on the Goldstein campus, including sports, arts and crafts, music, drama and swimming. Hebrew language is incorporated through activities and songs. Daily Tefillot (prayer services), "Oneg Shabbat" (a culmination of the week) and activities related to the summer theme create an environment of Masorti Jewish tradition that is an important element of all Ramah programs.

In 2010 we will continue to offer the exciting programming you’ve come to expect from Ramah Programs in Israel, and we will expand the RJDC as well! This year we will offer swimming lessons to non-swimmers and weaker swimmers during our regular free swim period.

Overheard at morning snack: "This is the best camp ever. I want to come back every summer." E., 2010 camper.

Our oldest group, entering grades 6-8 (middle school), will volunteer weekly as well as engage in additional service projects. They will take a more active role in leading tefillah at camp. Campers can earn community service hours for their schools.

We will also introduce Chugim, or free choice, activities several times per week this summer. Campers will be able to choose from several different tracks, and then be able to engage in those activities for a more extended period of time each week. Campers may change their tracks from week to week, enabling them to experience more activities on a deeper level. All campers will still have each specialty activity approximately twice per week. Chugim will be in two blocks: Block A for campers entering grades K-3, and Block B for campers entering grades 4-8.

The Chugim for this summer, based on camper requests, are Creative Arts and Sports.

"Camp was such an incredible experience for all of us! We met such nice families and the kids are still chanting the Ramah melodies which I love so much! Looking forward to next summer!"
--Shawna G., parent of 2008 campers
